Welcoming Cathy Kane as Interim Group CEO

Cathy Kane has been appointed Interim Group CEO of SIG, the parent organisation of SIG Housing Trust. She brings a wealth of experience from across the charity and health sectors, with a career that includes strategic, advisory, and financial leadership roles at notable organisations such as Peabody Trust, Terence Higgins Trust, the Royal Courts of Justice Specialist Advice Bureau, and Thrive—a charity dedicated to supporting people with disabilities through horticulture. Her time as CEO of Just Advocacy further highlights her dedication to supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

Cathy’s strong background in Health and Social Care includes leading major digital transformation projects and designing clinical care models for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Groups, as well as the Bristol & North Somerset Integrated Care Board. Most recently, she has provided national consultancy support to Primary Care Networks, working in close collaboration with Clinical Leads to ensure services align with local and national priorities.

Since joining the SIG Board of Trustees in August 2024, Cathy has been actively involved in the organisation’s work, including that of SIG Housing Trust. She has taken part in strategic initiatives such as the Women’s Strategy Day and visited key service sites including Aspinden Care Home, New Hope, and Penrose Drive Independent Approved Premises. Her proactive approach and strong desire to understand the full breadth of SIG’s work have been clear from the beginning.

To support a smooth leadership transition, Cathy has spent her initial weeks working alongside outgoing Group CEO Gill Arukpe. With her extensive sector knowledge and leadership experience, she is well-positioned to drive forward SIG’s mission and strengthen the impact of its services—including those delivered through SIG Housing Trust.

Her appointment represents an exciting chapter for the group, and her leadership is expected to bring continued growth and positive change across all areas of the organisation.
